PLS Newsletter - October 11th, 2021

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s autumn forum will be held online.

Since the onset of the pandemic, as remote work and online lessons quickly became commonplace, it’s become difficult to connect with others in the same way we did before. As communication methods are changing, we invite you to join us in discussing interpersonal connections under the theme of “motivation” at this year’s forum.

While it’s still not possible for us to gather in person, we are working hard to ensure that this online event is of value to all who attend. We look forward to seeing you all.

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Platform: Zoom

Cost: First participant per school: ¥3,800 (tax included) Subsequent participants per school: ¥2,800 (tax included)

We would be very grateful for submissions to be made by Wednesday, November 10th.
We will provide participants with the Zoom IDs and passcodes required in advance of the event.

At previous in-person events, it was possible to provide real-time translation for much of the day. Unfortunately we are unable to do so on Zoom, so to allow all attendees to get the most out of the day we have scheduled parallel events in both English and Japanese throughout the day. Please pre-select your preferences to ensure smooth transitions between events on the day.

Requests for Participants

• On the day of the event, you will be assigned to your pre-registered breakout rooms. Please note that you will not be able to move between rooms. 

• So that each participant can have access to their desired sessions, please ensure that you prepare one device per participant. If you plan on sharing a device on the day, please note that it will only be possible to access one breakout room in the morning session and one room in the afternoon session.

In preparation for the forum, we’d like to ask you to complete a questionnaire on building and maintaining motivation for students/guardians, staff, and for yourself.

The information gathered from this questionnaire will be collated and shared with sister schools prior to the forum on November 28. Answers will be shared anonymously.

To gather as many ideas and opinions as possible, please share the questionnaire link with all staff at your school rather than submitting only one response representing the school.

Schools not attending the forum are also encouraged to submit questionnaires.
