Trial of New Pre-Rank Material: Animal Action
Double Action Verb Stories, which is currently used in the Nenchu Program (second-year kindergarten), is being adapted into Animal Action, a new material for nensho (first-year kindergarten) students. We have rewritten the stories to remove the past tense, and included some Japanese interjections in the audio to help make the stories easier for younger students to follow. Along with the addition of chants and an activity book, Animal Action will be a more enjoyable way for students to spend time with English at home.
During development, we have trialled Animal Action with students at PLS Tokyo, however we are asking for your cooperation with a full-year test from spring 2023 in anticipation of launching the final product in spring 2024.
Along with those already using pre-rank materials like Potato Pals and Double Action Verb Stories, schools interested in starting nensho classes for the first time are also welcome to join the trial. Please use the link below to learn more and apply to participate.
We will also be holding a Zoom meeting to further explain Animal Action on January 27th, 2023 from 13:15 (application deadline : Thursday, January 26). We anticipate this meeting will run for 30-40 minutes, depending on the number and content of questions from participants.
The meeting will be run by Edith Rich, the Early Childhood Program Coordinator at PLS Tokyo. We hope that both teaching and non-teaching staff will attend (explanations will be given in Japanese and English).
The deadline to apply for this trial is Friday, February 10, 2023.
Animal Action Trial and Explanation Meeting Application Form
After receiving applications, the Learning Aids Department will send confirmation and a material package.
Double Action Verb Stories will remain available for sale, however students who use Animal Action as nensho students should only be assigned Listen Up! in nenchu. Oxford’s Potato Pals, which has been used in nensho until now, is being discontinued by the publisher, and will be removed from sale when current stock runs out. Thank you for your understanding.
